History of HWCFI
The foundation was born as a desire to help young underprivileged Filipino children in July 5, 2001. Burdened by the sad state of young children who are forced by their family’s poverty to live in the streets to survive, Pastor Lemuel Danganan and wife, Pinky Danganan, was urged to answer the deafening silent cry of these children suffering. To institutionalize their family’s personal ministry, they decided after much thought and prayer, to extend their helping hand and involve their family and friends by registering their ministry to the Philippines’ Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as His World Christian Foundation Incorporated (HWCFI).
From the streets of the cities of Manila, their regular feeding programs to supplement the nutrition and health of street children whose families could not even afford to provide for their food, the ministry of HWCFI developed into other projects and programs to answer the growing needs of the poverty-stricken families of the said area. The ministry grew to Scholarship Assistance programs so that a few of these street children could go back to school and get their adherent right to an education that hopefully could end their suffering from the lack of basic necessities. Other projects such as Medical Assistance Programs, Youth Camps, Church Planting Ministries, also cropped up as Pastor found himself immersed into the ministry of HWCFI – particularly the street children and their families.
Even with the great passion and dedication of Pastor Lemuel, his family and friends, the need for more services that could better provide impact and change in countless numbers of lives, grew and grew. And now, ten years after, HWCFI barely got through the challenges of the ministry. Despite all that, Pastor Lemuel’s unwavering commitment stood its ground with great help from prayers and guidance from the Lord, Who Pastor Lemuel attributes as the sole source of his strength. Sadly, despite the hard work, Pastor Lemuel realized that he could only do so much but the needs of the children and their families continues to grow as each day passes.
Realizing that there is now a need to better become as a catalyst for change, HWCFI is stepping up by taking on more volunteers and staff for the projects of the foundation beginning this 2012. Catching fire in the hearts of a select few from the Christian communities of Manila and now in Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao, the family of workers in HWCFI is now steadily growing in numbers. And with the addition of more people into the fold, several projects for the foundation has now been slated for this year alone. Although the great intentions to be of service is there, the foundation, as a non-profit organization is need of more help to implement and realize these plans. This is why the new face and look of HWCFI’s website is a step to reaching to a wider reach and network, hopefully to more countries around the world to be the voice for the many poor children and their families in the Philippines in their cry for help and compassion.
It is the hope of HWCFI to touch the hearts of many who are privileged to be in a better position to become the foundation’s partners in answering the call for help.
